    Tiktok Subscription: Would You Pay To Follow Someone On Social Media?

    TikTok  has announced a subscription package which will make you pay to follow someone on the social media platform.

    The social media app is following in the footsteps of Instagram, Twitter and Facebook who have similar packages.

    The platform said it is testing support for paid subscriptions which allows content creators to charge their followers for following their accounts.

    Similarly, Instagram has also announced it is launching its own paid subscription too.

    So, by this, it means you will now have to pay some influencers or content creators in other to follow their accounts.

    Meanwhile, many creators, numbering into millions, are on the short-video app creating contents.

    Recall that when you sign up for the account, you can freely follow any account on the platform.

    Many accounts specialize on several topics or issues.

    However, with the new subscription plan, you will no longer have to follow some creators for free.

    Toktok says you will now have to pay the creators first before you can follow their accounts and enjoy their contents.

    Meanwhile, the short-form video platform has not yet announced when it will begin rolling the new subscription package.

    TikTok, in a statement, described the new feature as a “concept.”

    It said it is “always thinking about new ways to bring value to our community and enrich the TikTok experience”.

    Recall that already, Tiktok pays creators through Creator Next hub and through a tipping feature.

    Implications:

    The new feature means Tiktok’s best videos will now be under paid subscription.

    Every content on Tiktok will no longer be available to everybody.

    Creators will now start making half contents and putting the completing half in paid subscription.

    Similarly, Instagram has also said it is launching its own paid subscription plans too.

    Instagram said creators can select the price of their subscription tiers ranging from $0.99 to $99.99 per month.

    Also, keep in mind that both Facebook and Twitter also have their own versions of paid subscriptions for creators.

    Twitter recently launched its own, Super Follows.
